Cute and innocent heart

I came across the nail art comp by simple nail arts few times over the past weeks. I wasn't planning on participating but we are women and we have the right to keep changing our minds right . . . I did change my mind about participating. I decided to participate at the last moment.

Now I had 2 days to figure out a simple . . . very simple valentine nail art which i can easily do myself on my right hand too . . . Even though I haven't used a fan brush or done a heart shaped mani, I thought i did take a risk and I love the end result too . . .

This is an pink and white mani but u cant see the white outright. It sort of peeks through . . . just how I wanted it.

Coming back to the contest, it was conducted my Simple Nail Art Tips. U should chk her Nail and Cuticle oil. Eventhough I havent used it, I have seen great reviews about it.

Cute and Innocent heart tutorial: (Cudnt stop using "Innocent")
  1. Apply your base coat.
  2. Paint your nails in the chosen base polish. I chose "Berry Parfait" by Jordana. It is a gorgeous Pink color.
  3. Once it's dry, take little white polish in the foil paper. Use fan brush and apply the white polish on your nail horizontally from one side of the nail and then the other side. (if the polish doesnt apply in streaks, but as a broad stroke, just run the fan brush over it twice without dipping it in polish, you will get the streaks)
  4. After the white polish is fully dry, apply pink polish in the same method described in step 3 (same as ur base polish) to your nails. Don't cover your white polish fully instead just enough for the white to peek through. (Think of a white nail polish sandwiched between pink polishes)
  5. Let them dry again fully.
  6. Now for your heart: There are two methods. one is to apply two dots using ur dotting tool and just drag the dots down to make a heart. Second is to use ur dotting tool to make a "V" shape first and then manipulate it to make a heart. ( U can also use free hand) I love the second method since it easy to handle it even if I make a mistake when painting a heart.
  7. Draw hearts on ur nails as described in step 6. I used a shimmery pink polish. Just as many hearts as u want. Its your wish.
  8. After its all dry, top it off with a top coat.
  9. Now sit back and enjoy ur nails.
Its wat am doing. . . enjoying my nails.

Polishes Used:
Base Coat: Jordana Calcium Boost Base Coat
Base Polish: Jordana Nail Polish "Berry Parfait"
White Polish : NYC Long wearing Nail enamel "French Tip"
Heart           : Zoya Nail Polish "Izzy"
Top Coat : NYC Long wearing Nail enamel Extra shiny Topcoat.

Just look how gorgeous Zoya Izzy is????? Its the one in the hearts. I can see shades of violet in the flash . . . Can you????

Polka Dots with a twist

Back with one more nail art. . . I so so so luved it when I was wearing it. Wasn't so sure of the color combination but it worked. This was inspired by a Nail art tutorial by Polishpedia. ( Click on the link to go to the original tutorial)

The colors were easy to choose (even though I wasnt sure it would work). Two of my most favorite colors.
Maybelline Colorshow Tenacious Teal (Teal but greener) - This is a very very beautiful color not much of a teal tho' and goes opaque in 3 thin layers or 2 thick layers.
Revlon Nail Enamel Raisin Rage (berry shade) - An amazing color and an amazing formula to work with. Just 2 thin layers is enough for opacity.

Teal is a lil thinner formula so I wasn't so sure of how it would be if I apply it over the berry shade using the scotch tape method. So I did a freehand with the berry first on one half of the nail and cleaning the strays on the other half with a q-tip and then applied the teal. The dotting tool was a bobby pin :D. I didnt want an accent nail so I went ahead with the same theme for all my nails.

So what do u think of  it???? Do comment below.

Nail Art : Christmas Tree and Presents - Fail

I know I have been off for real long time . . . I again sorta lost inspiration. But then there was this contest on theindianbeauty.com. A nail art contest on the the theme Christmas/Newyear. I like to dabble on nail art. But I never thought I'd ever enter a contest but again here I am entering. I have no hope for a win but I luved participating. I have already done 4 manis and planned for my fifth.

My first entry for the Christmas/Newyear Nail Art contest by theindianbeauty.com.
Christmas Tree and Presents.
Isn't that what everyone remembers when it comes to christmas. But you know what I remember church, relatives, tree, glitz and food. We will have our tree, stars land fairy lights. Every house glitters at night. Then there's the carols. The home to home carols start  by the beginning of december. Then on christmas eve is the truck carols. The churches rent a truck and then decorate the truck/lorry with fairy lights and sing carols. I remember running to the road the moment i hear the Truck/Lorry carols.

The Christmas day starts at 4am with my mom waking me up for church. Then we go to church by 5 am. After the service coffee and cake was served at church and its then we wish everyone "Merry Christmas" and chat with every one around. Every one would be dressed well and shining with jewels. Then we return home for food and more food till lunch. Then after lunch we either visit relatives or go to a beach. We pack tea, snacks and go to a beach. Once in the beach we have our tea, stay for an hr or 2 and then start back home. Thus ends our Christmas day. A very tired end for a very great day. Such fun we used to have.

I have been rambling too much and diverted away from the topic much. So heres the nail art.

Christmas Tree and Presents.

Is it Ok or "It Sucks"? I know its a bit of a failure.

Introducing my Son Jake.

I haven’t been able to post for a few days last week for some reason or the other. (Isn’t this a polite way of saying I got lazy).  Surprising my friend Beni isn’t on my back for not posting. Probably she got tired of waiting but every time I don’t post in the right time I get guilty.

Beni . . . What have u done to me???????

Any way back to the post. When I was whining to Beni couple of months back, that I wasn’t having any inspiration, her answer was “You have Jake, what more inspiration do you need”. She’s right, you know. I can write his antics over and over. It’s so beautiful to watch. I always wanted to write but you don’t talk much about your baby’s achievements in public forum. It’s what the elders say. . . But me and hubs decided to share some of his antics/achievements with ya all . . .

How do I describe him????? He's witty, very observant, funny, silly, intelligent and charming actor. Did I say Actor???? Of yeah he is an actor. Those are for another day. Now I wanna share the moment I held him in my hands.

I had relatively short but a rather painful delivery. After 5 hours, I had the proud moment when I had my little one in my hands. He was so tiny and the most beautiful baby I’d ever seen; scrunchy face and all. It was the happiest moment in my life. Trust me, it is one moment anyone will be lost for words. Even today I see how much he has grown and I remember the first days of his life.

I am not even going to touch the topic of diet which was restricted for a quite long time with me having a really yucky herbal mixture of fish curry and loadsa veggies. And those herbal mixtures I had to have. It was Jake who helped me have those. One look at his face and I cud have done anything for him. I was frustrated so many times but the moment I saw my lil one I decided I would have every single one of those stuff if it was good for my son.

Sausage Masala or Sausage ?????????

This was supposed to be posted on last saturday but cudn't get around to post it till today but still am maintaining the same post I wrote for last weekend.

Its Saturday and weekend . . . Yipeeeeee. This weekend is going to be an idle one with me planning a manicure and a facial if I can. May be Chinese lunch Take out. Life’s good :D.

Hope you all liked the Sausage Pepper fry. Am definitely making it again. May be one day I will get my friend Nisha to write a guest post on the recipe for a sausage fry. Her recipes are always great, yummy and healthy.

Coming back to our post today, its again Sausage but I haven’t named it yet: P. Sausage Masala or Sausage ?????????. Seriously I am very bad at naming. I will leave u guys to name.

Ingredients:
Sausage – 2 pounds (Premio Hot Italian Sausage. Sausage seasoned with crushed red and black pepper)
Tomato – 1 Medium
Onion – 2 Medium
Ginger Garlic Paste
Chilli Powder
Coriander Powder
Salt
Garam Masala

Steps:
  1. Boil the sausage in water for about 15 min. Sausage would have been cooked by then.
  2. Heat oil in Tawa and fry the Sausage in oil for about 3 min on each side on medium flame. (This enhances the taste)
  3. Cut it in one inch wide pieces.
  4. Cut onion and tomato into fine pieces.
  5. Heat oil in a pan/kadai.
  6. Saute the onion until it turns golden brown. (Tip: Add a pinch of salt for the onion to cook faster)
  7. Add ginger garlic paste and sauté it for a couple of minutes.
  8. Then add tomato and let it cook until tomato turns mushy. (Tip: Add salt for the tomato to cook faster)
  9. After the tomato is cooked add salt, chilli powder and coriander powder(Tip: chilli powder and coriander powder should be in the ration 1:2)
  10. Stir it well for a couple of minutes and then add sausage and stir well again.
  11. Add little water and reduce the flame.
  12. Add garam masala and let it mix well for sometime.
  13. Add more water if u want it gravy. I made it quite thick.

And Voila !!!! You have your Sausage masala . . .
